Phoenix (3:58:18 PM): The images in his head kept making him twitch and he jerked back into awareness suddenly.

Caiden (4:06:43 PM): Caiden startled and stumbled a bit, falling to the ground mid-pantleg.
Phoenix (4:08:08 PM): Phoenix blinked, rubbing at his eyes. "You allright there?"
Caiden (4:09:01 PM): He huffed a little. "You scared me.
Phoenix (4:09:28 PM): "Oh....sorry."Phoenix gave him a sheepish smile.
Caiden (4:11:42 PM): "You 'ave a nightmare or something?"
Phoenix (4:12:24 PM): Phoenix shook his head. No, it wasn't quite that.
Caiden (4:13:36 PM): "Okay..." he nodded, fixing his pants and rolling up the bottoms a little. They were too long for him. "You want anything to eat?"
Phoenix (4:17:03 PM): Phoenix thought about it for a moment. His body was ravaged. He needed food. "Yeah, sounds good."
Caiden (4:18:26 PM): "Alright... come on.." and he gestured him outside to the quiet camp. Everyone was asleep still.
Phoenix (4:19:58 PM): Phoenix followed after him and looked around a bit, scratching his head. "Reese came to the tent last night."
Caiden (4:20:31 PM): Caiden looked at him a moment, going to where the food was kept in all sorts of containers and such. "And?"
Phoenix (4:24:51 PM): Phoenix shrugged. "He's full of questions."
Caiden (4:26:34 PM): "Yeah... he's thirteen..." softly.
Phoenix (4:27:36 PM): "I know that." Phoenix smiled a bit.
Caiden (4:28:16 PM): "We don't tell them certain things... the kids... and he's still a kid. I was never really a kid."
Phoenix (4:29:05 PM): Phoenix nodded. "I understand." He looked out across the land. "I wonder what it's like to have an actual childhood."
Caiden (4:33:24 PM): A small shrug, poking at the fire to get it going.
Phoenix (4:34:54 PM): He pressed his lips together, hands clasped behind his back and felt that twinge in his head again.
Caiden (4:36:12 PM): "Has to be something worth having... or people wouldn't wish they'd had one. Then again, I don't really know what a normal childhood would be, really... Some of the kids around here... I mean, they're not all like me and my family... Some of them still get what you call normal, maybe?"
Phoenix (4:36:52 PM): Phoenix looked down at him with a small sigh. "It must depend then. Because I hated mine."
Caiden (4:38:29 PM): He pulled out little strips of meat and put them in the pan, sitting down on the makeshift bench. "I used to have a house. Well, until my dad died, anyways. I don't remember it. It was probably just a rundown hole in the wall where some happy family lived before... everything... but it wasn't a tent."
Phoenix (4:44:52 PM): His gaze fell on the other boy and he smiled slightly. "I'd take that over where I live."
Caiden (4:49:34 PM): "Me too..." quietly flipping a strip of the meat.
Phoenix (4:50:14 PM): Phoenix resisted the urge to touch him and clasped his hands tighter behind him.
Caiden (4:51:46 PM): "Do you want some water?"
Phoenix (4:52:49 PM): "Water'd be good, yeah."He sat down a bit and slid his hands over his lap.
Caiden (4:53:28 PM): He got a canteen out and went to the supply, filling it up and coming back.
Phoenix (4:54:36 PM): Phoenix cringed a little at a sudden stitch in his side but he put on a calm face when Caiden returned.
Caiden (4:55:43 PM): Sitting down beside him, he took a little drink and handed it to him.
Phoenix (4:56:17 PM): "Thanks." Phoenix took the canteen and took a long swig before holding it in his hands and letting out a little breath.

Phoenix (4:59:57 PM): "He asked about me...why I'm close to you now."
Caiden (5:02:19 PM): "What'd you tell him?"
Phoenix (5:03:53 PM): "I told him I didn't know, but when I figured out the answer I'd tell him.
Caiden (5:05:03 PM): "Good answer..." he flipped the pieces one more time before putting them onto a plate and setting it there between them. "Finger food. Best way to go."
Phoenix (5:06:12 PM): Phoenix laughed a bit. "Smells pretty damn good."
Caiden (5:06:51 PM): "Food always does..." smirking a little.
Phoenix (5:07:57 PM): "Smartarse."Phoenix chuckled and picked at a piece of meat, popping it in his mouth.
Caiden (5:17:53 PM): He chewed on a piece and looked around the camp.
Phoenix (5:20:32 PM): "I wonder if they've figured things out up there at the Hell House."
Caiden (5:21:02 PM): "Probably did the minute they went to doctor you up."
Phoenix (5:21:59 PM): At that, Phoenix snorted. "Ah, you're most likely right. And by now they've called my parents and put them on alert."
Caiden (5:22:54 PM): "Probably..." quietly.
Phoenix (5:23:19 PM): "Which means they'll be out looking,"he muttered.
Caiden (5:24:17 PM): "Everyone here knows that. My uncle was starting to talk with them about moving camp."
Phoenix (5:24:59 PM): Phoenix sighed a bit. "I hate that. Why couldn't they just not care? Now all of your people have to uproot because of my fucked up family.
Caiden (5:26:03 PM): Caiden shook his head a little. "They've been scouting out these old warehouses... seeing if anyone comes and goes... It'd be better shelter for us."
Phoenix (5:26:51 PM): Phoenix ate another piece of meat quietly and nodded slightly. "Maybe I can just give myself in. They're relentless. They'll set the savages out after you all."
Caiden (7:09:21 PM): "That'll only make things worse."
Phoenix (7:10:14 PM): "Nothing I do at the moment would make things better."
Caiden (7:11:07 PM): "Then stay where you are. In the future, it might work out for you."
Phoenix (7:13:13 PM): Another look and Phoenix smiled only slightly. "I'll take your advice, for now."
Caiden (7:18:09 PM): Caiden smiled a lit tle, but didn't look at him.
Phoenix (7:19:59 PM): He sat back, unable to eat anymore and clasped his hands between his knees. In the distance he heard the running water and couldn't help thinking of the bridge.
Caiden (7:22:38 PM): "So... want to take a look around?"
Phoenix (7:24:23 PM): "Sure, why not." Phoenix got to his feet, stretching and flashing his side where vine tattoos showed.
Caiden (7:28:18 PM): He put the canteen in its place and walked with him out of the camp and opposite they way they had traveled to get there.
Phoenix (7:32:20 PM): Phoenix walked along, taking in the scenery. It had been so long since he'd been in a place outside that hadn't been guarded
Caiden (7:34:26 PM): Putting his hands in his pockets he lead him through some trees and just along the river there.
Phoenix (7:35:27 PM): It was so peaceful out. So beautiful. He felt...relieved.
Caiden (7:39:24 PM): They walked along until they were met with a high cliff and the waterfall.
Phoenix (7:40:15 PM): Phoenix looked down and a grin lit his face.
Caiden (7:41:20 PM): Caiden tug his shirt up and wiggled out of his pants. "Might aswell get a bath in."
Phoenix (7:43:10 PM): Glancing over to him, Phoenix smirked. "Right, a bath." He nodded and yanked off his shirt, turning and the outline of his namesake glowed black on his back.
Caiden (7:45:14 PM): "You have a lot more of those than I originally saw."
Phoenix (7:46:13 PM): Phoenix turned. "A lot more of what?"
Caiden (7:46:26 PM): He pointed to his back.
Phoenix (7:46:41 PM): Phoenix craned his neck and his brows furrowed.
Caiden (7:47:56 PM): "Its a tattoo, isn't it?" furrowing his brows.

Phoenix (3:08:26 PM): Phoenix really, truly COULD NOT sleep. But he didn't know how to explain that to Caiden. Didn't really want to.
Caiden (3:09:47 PM): Caiden gave up when his stomach had been growling at him for an hour, slipping out of the tent and not caring anymore if Phoenix slept.

Caiden (3:13:19 PM): There was music and fire and everyone sitting around together. No one care about the amount of food on their plate, well... if you could call what they had real plates.

Caiden (4:16:40 PM): Caiden pulled him close and sat down again beside Reese, letting Phoenix take a spot at his other side on the makeshift bench.

Caiden (4:20:51 PM): A plate was passed along and he handed it to him.

Phoenix (1:24:06 AM): "I'll have to remember that.” Phoenix shook his head with a little laugh.
Caiden (1:25:09 AM): Ruffling his hair a bit, he didn't bother dressing back into his clothes. Instead, he laid in the grass just there.

Caiden (12:37:55 AM): The sun was warm and inviting. Spreading out a little, had rested his arms at his sides and didn't care at all about the blades of grass poking into his back.

Phoenix (1:22:55 AM): He shrugged. "I don't remember. Out past our border. My parents had a fit."

Phoenix (6:06:30 PM): He slowly opened the door, looking around for a moment. "Because once upon a time I had an escape plan. And it fell through."
Caiden (6:07:01 PM): That didn't make him feel very confident, but he nodded, staying close.
Phoenix (6:10:45 PM): Phoenix slinked down the hallway to another hidden door, slipping in once he'd got it open and waiting for Caiden.
Caiden (6:11:35 PM): He quietly walked along in shoes a half size too big, but he wasn't complaining.
Phoenix (6:15:12 PM): Stopping at the end of a dank hall, he listened. He could faintly hear the sound of the savages on the other side of the wall, and he touched Caiden's arm, pulling him down a passage that would lead them under the castle and out.
Caiden (6:18:07 PM): Caiden followed close, practically on top of his back.
Phoenix (6:19:25 PM): Phoenix stopped finally at the door he knew would lead out into the yard. "Are you sure you're ready for this?"
Caiden (6:20:39 PM): "I want out... and I guess I'm going to have to trust you with those guns of yours."
Phoenix (6:21:44 PM): Phoenix nodded. "These are for the ones that are too far gone to listen." He shoved open the door, hearing the growls and snarls.
Caiden (6:22:22 PM): Caiden shivered a little at the disgusting noise, walking close as before.
Phoenix (6:29:27 PM): Phoenix unholstered the guns, holding them out at his sides and keeping his eyes out for ones that threatened to charge and didn't stay back.
Caiden (6:30:13 PM): He saw Reese almost instantly. "There's no way to get them back, is there?" mournfully.
Phoenix (6:31:32 PM): "It all depends." Phoenix didn't say no, because he knew it'd been done, but with the help of an ancient black magic his grandmother had told him to never use.
Caiden (6:32:00 PM): "What does it depend on?"
Phoenix (6:33:25 PM): "Whether I'm willing to break a vow I made to the only decent family member I had that died for me."
Caiden (6:34:09 PM): He didn't say anything for a moment. "Why would someone vow you not to do it? Do they come back wrong?"
Phoenix (6:35:16 PM): "It's not about them coming back wrong. It's about what you have to do to yourself in order for it to happen."
Caiden (6:35:41 PM): "And whats that?"
Phoenix (6:38:03 PM): Phoenix cocked the gun, shooting a savage that had been about to come up on Caiden. "You go to hell and back."
Caiden (6:38:25 PM): He swallowed a little. "How long?"
Phoenix (6:43:04 PM): "Again, it depends on the person and how strong they are connected to the bloodline. How badly they want it." He shot again at another and pulled Caiden along.
Caiden (6:44:46 PM): "How about if it were for a brother?"
Phoenix (6:46:06 PM): Phoenix shook his head a bit. "Not that bloodline, love."
Caiden (6:46:14 PM): "Oh... yours..." a small sigh.
Phoenix (6:47:41 PM): Phoenix paused and looked at Caiden for a moment, meeting his eyes. "How badly do you want it?" He stared at Caiden and held his arm out, shooting to the side and not even flinching.
Caiden (6:48:34 PM): He winced a bit at the noise. "He's my little brother... that says enough, doesn't it?"
Phoenix (6:49:54 PM): Phoenix nodded. "For me it does." He opened his jacket, pulling out a syringe filled with green liquid from the pack in his pocket. He saw Reese, aimed, and threw the syringe, watching as it plunged into the back of Reese's neck and he crumpled.
Caiden (6:50:39 PM): Caiden blinked a little and waited for any kind of instructions.
Phoenix (6:51:58 PM): Phoenix gestured him over as he picked Reese up without a thought and tossed him over his shoulder. "You see him move you better tell me. He bites me and we're both fucked." Moving back through the crowd, Phoenix kept his gun steady.
Caiden (6:53:33 PM): He only nodded and followed eyeing Reese more than anything.
Phoenix (6:54:30 PM): When they reached the edge of the property, Phoenix broke into a run, heading into the forest.
Caiden (6:55:35 PM): It was one thing he was good at. He could run. And he did, trailing him only by a sprint of two.
Caiden (6:55:37 PM): or-
Phoenix (6:56:30 PM): When Phoenix reached a bridge, he went into the water, sloshing through it instead of over the bridge.
Caiden (6:57:23 PM): Caiden stood at the edge for a moment. "What are you doing?"
Phoenix (6:58:01 PM): "There's bombs on that bridge. You wanna cross it?"
Caiden (6:59:33 PM): His stomach clenched just a little. Bombs. Bridges. Staring at the cold stone of it, he felt his heart sink before straggling along.
Phoenix (7:08:01 PM): Phoenix sloshed through the water, getting to the otherside and pulling himself up.
Caiden (7:09:29 PM): "how long is that stuff supposed to work?"
Phoenix (7:10:40 PM): "Don't know. Never had to use it before."
Caiden (7:11:17 PM): "You have a way of being reassuring... Do you want me to lead you to camp or are we going where else?"
Phoenix (7:13:36 PM): "I told you my escape plan fell through before. I never had a chance to do what I needed to do. And you can lead me there, but I'm gonna have to have a place to be absolutely private."
Caiden (7:14:37 PM): "Then we should do it before we go there..." a small nod "I don't want my uncle to see him like this." Caiden stepped in front of him and gestured him to come with him towards a building that was long ago bombed and rubbled.
Phoenix (7:15:53 PM): Phoenix followed after him, nodding in agreement and shifting Reese o nhis shoulder.
Caiden (7:16:39 PM): "no one goes here... it's sort of a..." he thought a moment "they call it cursed... because of all the people killed there... it used to be a church."
Phoenix (7:20:05 PM): "Well, guess it's the perfect place then."
Caiden (7:22:47 PM): They came upon it only ten minutes later, stepping over broken rocks.
Phoenix (7:23:31 PM): Phoenix could feel Reese stirring and he glanced at Caiden for a moment.
Caiden (7:23:56 PM): "Put him down before he does something..." fearfully.
Phoenix (7:25:19 PM):
