eyelinerandlust (7:52:08 PM): He kissed my forehead and told me he had to get dressed for the festivel, leaving me alone in the room. I sat up long after he left, signing online.
Phoenix (7:58:21 PM): Before I knew it, there it was, a perfect rendition of the jester. I smiled at the drawing as I went about filling in the colors.
eyelinerandlust (7:59:57 PM): I checkedmy e-mail quietly, some from my brother and a few from his wife. Sitting back a bit in my seat, I sighed. It was going to be another one of those days.
Phoenix (8:08:02 PM): And then it was finished, and I had to smile. It was one of the better ones I'd done in a long time. I let it dry and then added my name at the bottom. Then I rolled it up and wrapped a ribbon around it and went to the counter where the employee list was. I found his address. It wasn't far from here. With a little kick in my step, I headed outside and started to walk there.
eyelinerandlust (8:08:41 PM): I shut the computer off again and slouched down in front of the TV, feeling defeated for some reason.
Phoenix (8:19:55 PM): There it was. His place. I sighed and went up to the front door, knocking gently and shuffling from one foot to the other.
eyelinerandlust (8:24:21 PM): I looked up at the door and furrowed my eyebrows. Getting up, I opened the door without bothering to look, confused by who I saw.
Phoenix (8:29:26 PM): "Er...I'm sorry to bother you at home. I..um...well..." I handed him the rolled up canvas. "This is for you...just a way of saying thanks...Erm...goodnight then." I turned and headed back down the path.

Phoenix (1:22:42 AM): I got a variety of things, then went to the next place. Six places later, I had so much food I thought I'd have leftovers for a month.

Phoenix (2:12:00 AM): I had a container of sesame chicken and rice and noodles, taking them to the livingroom and ploppin on the couch to enjoy.

eyelinerandlust (1:09:01 AM): I did it again. I stood up, leashed Switch, and left the house with the faint click of the door.
Phoenix (1:17:15 AM): I sat back and looked at the drawing again. I'd put so much effort into it and I didn't even know why.
eyelinerandlust (1:19:29 AM): Shoving my keys in my pocket, I inhaled the cool early October air, tugging my jacket around me a bit as I walked down the street.
Phoenix (1:25:17 AM): He was beautiful, I realized. His eyes and smile...everything...I relived tonight and got a whimsy smile on my face.
eyelinerandlust (1:26:25 AM): I ended up putting Switch's leash around a pole in the park, sitting down on the bench with a mournful crying sound.
Phoenix (1:43:02 AM): I needed air. I needed to stop thinking. I needed to go to a place that hadn't changed for me. And I ended up at the park, stopping dead when I saw him there.
eyelinerandlust (1:44:08 AM): I stared down at my hands for what seemed like an hour, Switch curling up beneath the jungle gym, and pulled my legs up to my chest.
Phoenix (1:46:29 AM): I let out a little breath, wondering if I should go over to him or not.
eyelinerandlust (1:53:10 AM): I cursed under my breath to myself before turning my cheek, eyes closed, and felt a cool tear down my cheek once more.
Phoenix (2:02:52 AM): I decided not to bother him. It wasn't worth it. He had come here to be alone. So I went and sat on a swing and stared up at the sky.
eyelinerandlust (2:07:45 AM): I sang a song to myself... it was what I did when things got this way. "I'm so tired of apologizing to myself for you and what you've done to me. And I've tried, to forgive myself for caring about you..."
Phoenix (2:09:46 AM): I perked up a bit, listening to him much like before and swinging back and forth.
eyelinerandlust (2:11:40 AM): "Theres nothing I can do. Theres nothing I can do. Theres nothing I can do. This time is the last time I take this abuse." I sang it like the CD was playing right beside me.

Phoenix (2:15:38 AM): I bit on my lip. Something had happened to him again. "You know...you should just quit the festival and start a band."
eyelinerandlust (2:19:27 AM): I blinked a bit. There he was again. It never seemed to fail. "Right. A one man show with a guitar and the emoest songs you've ever heard."
Phoenix (2:22:59 AM): "It could be Radiohead, without the scary looking front man."
eyelinerandlust (2:24:33 AM): "I was thinking more Straylight Run."
Phoenix (2:25:44 AM): I nodded a little. "Or them. Either could work."

Phoenix (2:30:59 AM): I raised a brow. "Like I knew you'd be here tonight after I'd dropped you off at home?"
eyelinerandlust (2:31:40 AM): "no... it's just that everytime I leave my house I run into you."
Phoenix (2:36:53 AM): "Well, I'm sorry. I'll remember to stop living where I do."
eyelinerandlust (2:38:25 AM): I nodded just a little, not really in reponse but just to show I'd heard him, and looked back the other way.
Phoenix (2:44:48 AM): I gazed up at the sky again, letting out a sigh.
eyelinerandlust (2:49:36 AM): Tapping my feet as they rested on the bench, legs pulled up, I sang a song in my head now.
Phoenix (2:51:18 AM): I wanted the thoughts to melt away. To go far from me.
eyelinerandlust (2:52:09 AM): I opened my mouth again to speak and closed it again, finally settling on words a few moments later. "Ever wonder why you think the things you do?"
Phoenix (2:57:05 AM): I paused on the swings. "Every damn day of my life."
eyelinerandlust (2:57:41 AM): My eyes looked in his direction. "Do you ever think about hurting yourself?"
Phoenix (3:05:12 AM): I chuckled a little bitterly. "I already have."
eyelinerandlust (3:06:23 AM): I nodded again in response, frowning deeper.
Phoenix (3:09:31 AM): I gripped the chains of the swing and started swinging back and forth again.
eyelinerandlust (3:12:02 AM): Getting up quietly, I walked over to Switch and grabbed his collar, starting off out of the ppark.
Phoenix (3:15:51 AM): I glanced over and noticed him leaving, staying where I was. He'd already made a comment on me being all the places he was. I was done bothering him.
eyelinerandlust (3:17:11 AM): I wrapped the leash around my wrist and turned a bit to him. "So have I."
Phoenix (3:21:34 AM): Meeting his eyes, I smiled sadly. "Guess we have more in common than I thought."

Phoenix (12:50:43 AM): I didn't know why we connected. Why it was complicated. Why it didn't make sense. But it was hurting my fucking head.
eyelinerandlust (12:52:55 AM): I stuck my head between the bars and looked down at the water flowing beneath the small bridge, resting my cheek on the cool metal.

eyelinerandlust (1:11:23 AM): The water sucked me in, calmed me and brought out every bad feeling at the same time.
Phoenix (1:13:14 AM): I couldn't get his eyes...the tone of his voice out of my head.
eyelinerandlust (1:24:39 AM): They were back again and I closed my eyes against them, the thoughts in my mind resurfacing all over again.
Phoenix (1:25:26 AM): I wondered in a brief moment what it'd be like to kiss him, and then I was cursing myself.
eyelinerandlust (1:41:20 AM): I glanced down the row of bars to the right of me, wondering if I could fit myself somewhere between.
Phoenix (1:44:37 AM): "Why are you being so fucking stupid, James? What is wrong with you?" I muttered, slapping my head.
eyelinerandlust (1:49:06 AM): When I turned sideways and leg go of Switch's leash, he barked at me and looked as if I was insane. Maybe I was. I found myself standing on the outside of the bridge, staring down at the water, the rocks, and the lighthouse in the far distance. I let go without anymore thoughts, Switch barking and me not hearing. Behind him was a man and a women taking a walk, the women screeching about the boy who'd just jumped off the bridge.
Phoenix (1:56:45 AM): I felt an ache in my chest as I closed my eyes. This wasn't right. It just wasn't right.
eyelinerandlust (1:58:31 AM): It didn't do much. Maybe in the end I didn't want it to. I ended up in the hospital with a broken leg and forced to consent to counseling for a suicide attempt. Three days later they decided I was stable enough to go back to work and stay home. Rafe wouldn't speak to me... wouldn't even sleep in the same bed... and my grandfather assigned me to ticket duty.
Phoenix (2:00:14 AM): I hadn't seen him in three days. I hadn't heard from him or heard about him. Frowning as I went into work, I wondered about him yet again.

eyelinerandlust (1:35:25 AM): She wouldn't shut up and I couldn't take it anymore. Getting up from my spot, I dumped my trash into the bin a bit noisily.
Phoenix (1:36:05 AM): The girl startled and I glanced behind me, silently thanking him with my eyes.

Phoenix (1:47:39 AM): I snorted into my hand and she stopped once more, giving him the oddest look. Then she said she had to get going and I hurried to catch up to him. "Thank you for that."

Phoenix (1:51:27 AM): "Well, I'll...be on my way. Thank you again. And yeah....bye." I swallowed and turned away to head back to my booth.

eyelinerandlust (2:01:01 AM): Balancing on one foot, I tossed the crutchs into the backseat and flopped down. Breathing a bit unevenily, I popped opena water from this morning to take a pain pill.
Phoenix (2:03:15 AM): I wasn't sure of anything anymore. Not myself. Not him. Not the thoughts in my head. It was all a mess. I let my head fall and it hit the horn.

eyelinerandlust (7:11:08 PM): I was getting pissed off, my head throbbing as I got out of the car without my crutchs, hobbeling over to his car.
Phoenix (7:16:11 PM): I laid back in my seat now, settling for kicking the underside of the dashboard repeatedly.

Phoenix (7:21:18 PM): I looked over at him and arched a brow. "What's it matter to you?"

Phoenix (7:48:06 PM): I closed my eyes. And in that moment I vowed not to see him anymore. Not to speak to him or be around him. Taking a breath, I went back up to the grounds and quit. Then with a heavy heart, I got back into my car and zoomed towards home.

Phoenix (7:53:51 PM): Once back at my flat, I went to my bedroom and laid there, face down. He was gone from my life. Just like that. It had been that easy.

Phoenix (8:07:30 PM): I closed my eyes a bit. And just like that, getting away from him had becom a tad bit more complicated. "Er...hi."

Phoenix (8:33:29 PM): I wanted to...and that was the problem. "No. I do. I'll come pick you up."

Phoenix (8:44:56 PM): I sat up in bed. "I'll...be over in a minute." I hung up and got to my feet, heading out to get my keys and then moving out to my car. The drive was short and soon I was outside his place, honking the horn.
