poisonbitterswt (5:47:46 PM): They told me he needed to see a psychologist, that maybe his whole imaginary friend thing was some way for him to "repress" his mother's death. I didn't want to listen, but I went ahead with it. One day after kindergarten, I led him to the little office, stepping inside and looking around, biting my lip.

poisonbitterswt (6:44:12 PM): I paused for a moment. "Well, I have someone come to our house. They're usually there after school, till I get home."

poisonbitterswt (6:53:20 PM): I shrugged. "It depends...sometimes around 6 or 7...sometimes I don't get home till he's already in bed."

poisonbitterswt (8:02:09 PM): Slumping down into a seat, tugging at my hair, I let out a sigh. Why wouldn't they tell me what was going on?

"Because Avery's teacher found him in the corner of the room trying to cut his arm with scissors. When she asked him why he was doing it, he plainly said that he wanted scars like his father." My mouth dropped open a little and I didn't even have a response for that.

Now while you can self-mutilate all you like, he is a student here and we are concerned for his safety. Especially around a parent that has suicidal tendencies." I jerked my head up, eyes blazing. "I do not...have suicidal tendencies, sir."

poisonbitterswt (8:45:09 PM): The principal simply looked down at them sternly. "My concern is for his safety and that is all."

poisonbitterswt (8:47:07 PM): "The fact that he even has a psychiatrist should say something." I suddenly launched to my feet and leaned over the desk, staring the principal in the eyes. "You tell me how you'd be after walking in at age four and seeing your mother dead."

poisonbitterswt (8:54:49 PM): I looked over at him, smiling appreciatively and headed to the infirmary. Avery sat on a bed, arm bandaged and looked up when we walked in. "Daddy!"
